Marina Party 2007

We are again planning to have a gathering at our marina in Stony Point NY on Saturday, August 4th from 3:00 on. We have had fun in the past and hope you can join us!

Should we consider Sunday, the 5th as a potential rain date, in the event that it pours? We've been pretty lucky so far but you never know. We may lose some attendees but it would be difficult to do anything there in a continual downpour. So let me know what you think. Should we bring the smaller tent to cover the food. There are plenty of tables and chairs.

Remember to wear comfortable shoes and bring a jacket; it gets chilly when the sun goes down.

For those of you who haven't been there yet, there are grills, a gazebo, a pool (we can't all go at once though!) and a beautiful view of the Hudson River. And plenty of boats of course. The weather looks good so far! It's very easy to get to - no traffic and about 40 minutes from Nutley via the Parkway, a short hop on the Thruway and then on the Palisades Parkway North.

Directions are below and other details and who brings what will be decided once I know who will be joining us. There is also a motel nearby for those who want to stay over.

Here are some other things we will need:

More soda and ice; paper products, condiments, desserts, Coffee/Tea/Sugar/half and half; paper towels, table cloths, saran wrap, aluminum foil, CD's. We could use a london broil and maybe a tossed salad. I may have forgotten something, so please fee free to add to the list.

I will bring the boom box and the coffee urn and other miscellaneous stuff. We will have a plastic tub filled with water to rinse off dishes, etc.

We should be able to use the pool so bring along a bathing suit. The boat ride should be on as long as the weather cooperates!

Again, just let me know if I've left anything out. Looking forward to seeing everyone! We'll be there early so you can arrive by 1:00 if you'd like!

DIRECTIONS TO PATSY’S BAY MARINA IN STONY POINT, NY:

GARDEN STATE PARKWAY NORTH, CROSSING INTO NEW YORK. – FOLLOW SIGNS FOR 287, NEW YORK CITY/TAPPAN ZEE BRIDGE.

YOU WILL BE ON THE THRUWAY (287) FOR ONLY A FEW MINUTES -- TAKE EXIT 13N, PALISADES PARKWAY NORTH.

FROM THE PALISADES PKWY, TAKE EXIT 15, GATE HILL ROAD. MAKE A LEFT ON GATE HILL ROAD.

TAKE GATE HILL ROAD ALL THE WAY OUT UNTIL THE END (ABOUT 5 MINUTES). MAKE A LEFT AT THE LIGHT, WHICH PUTS YOU ON 9W.

GO THRU ONE INTERSECTION. ON YOUR LEFT YOU WILL PASS A LIQUOR STORE AND A DELI, THEN A TIRE STORE. JUST BEYOND THE TIRE STORE, LOOK FOR TOMPKINS AVENUE AND MAKE A RIGHT.

TAKE TOMPKINS STRAIGHT DOWN INTO THE MARINA, THROUGH THE GATES, THEN BEAR LEFT. GO ALL THE WAY AROUND AND TOWARDS THE RIGHT. YOU WILL BOATS ON THE LAND. PARK TOWARDS THE POOL AND IT WILL BE CLOSER TO THE PICNIC AREA.

GOING HOME:

AT THE TOP OF TOMPKINS, MAKE A LEFT; GO THRU THE INTERSECTION AND MAKE A RIGHT AT THE NEXT LIGHT (BACK ON GATE HILL ROAD). THE ENTRANCE TO THE PALISADES PARKWAY SOUTH WILL BE ON YOUR LEFT.

GET OFF THE PALISADES AT EXIT 9W, WHICH PUTS YOU BACK ON THE THRUWAY. STAY TOWARDS YOUR RIGHT TO CATCH THE GARDEN STATE PARKWAY, WHICH COMES UP FAIRLY QUICKLY.
